Kakadu Plum Co.

Melbourne, Victoria
Female-led
Social Impact

Kakadu Plum Co. is a passionate social enterprise dedicated to celebrating Indigenous culture through traditional Australian bush foods. Founded by Tahlia Mandie, who was inspired to highlight local superfoods rather than imported ones, they exist as a vessel to share incredible native ingredients - like the vitamin-rich Kakadu Plum - with the wider world.

More than just a food brand, they are deeply committed to creating positive impact. While not an Indigenous-owned business themselves, they work directly and collaboratively with Traditional Owners and Indigenous communities who wild-harvest their range. Importantly, these communities set their own prices, ensuring they are paid directly and fairly for their work. By bringing these ancient flavours into modern homes, Kakadu Plum Co. aims to foster traditional practices and help Indigenous bush food businesses grow on Country, offering a warm and delicious way for everyone to connect with the oldest foods on earth.

Meet Tahlia, the founder of Kakadu Plum Co.

Owner and Founder Tahlia Mandie recently released her first cookbook, The Australian Ingredients Kitchen, co-authored with Elder Bruno Dann. These no-fuss and family friendly recipes will introduce native ingredients into the homes of all Australians, showing how easy it is to embrace foods from the lands they live on.

"I started Kakadu Plum Co. because I saw too many Australians opting for international superfoods for their health needs. I connected with country and community and knew I had to share this incredible fruit - the Kakadu Plum. I was driven to share this incredible product and story and highlight the amazing foods that have been growing on this land for thousands of years. To be connected to Traditional Owners and communities is an incredible honor."
